Today, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt is a successful, author, missionary, and pastor.  Over the course of 35 plus years of ministry, he has traveled across much of the globe in his work answering the call of God.  Dr. Lingerfelt is a graduate of both Texas Christian University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. In this article, he looks back on his work and career to date.

“My story begins at the age of seventeen when I answered God’s call to go into full-time ministry,” reveals Dr. Lingerfelt.

Soon after, a young Gene Lingerfelt married his high school sweetheart, Sue, in 1976.  In the years that followed, both earned degrees from Texas Christian University and Dr. Lingerfelt would go on to earn his doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

In 1982-1983, Gene and Sue traveled to Kenya as missionaries, where Gene served as an instructor at the East Africa School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya.  During this time, he preached in both Kenya and Tanzania.

“Following our return home from our first trip to Africa, we founded Faith Christian Center in 1984 in a hotel ballroom in North Arlington,” explains the pastor. Dr. Lingerfelt and his wife, Sue, also started a private Christian school in 1988 as a ministry of Faith Christian Center.  “The school has become one of the most important ministries of the church, especially in today’s culture; however, when we started the school in 1988, which was in the midst of a national and local recession, it was one of the hardest things we have ever done. We obeyed God, though, and He has been faithful and He has provided every step of the way.”

As the church and congregation grew, the church built its first building in 1988 on Interstate-30 not far from the current Dallas Cowboys stadium.  In the decade and a half that followed, the church continued to grow. In 2000, the church purchased land in South Arlington along US HWY 287. In 2006, the church moved to its new campus at US HWY 287 and Eden Road in Arlington.  Today, the church is located on a beautiful 73-acre campus in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

In the years following their first missionary trip, Dr. Gene and Sue Lingerfelt have subsequently traveled to more than 40 nations of the earth, preaching the good news of the Gospel.  They have also pioneered 68 churches in 9 different countries.

Dr. Lingerfelt is also a successful author and he has authored and co-authored many books and workbooks on success, prosperity, Christian living, prayer and marriage, and family.  His books include 10 Words That Can Change Your Life, The God Touch, 80-10-10: Everyman’s Road to Riches, and also a book on marriage he co-authored with his wife, Sue, entitled, You, Me & God.

After pioneering Faith Christian Center in a hotel ballroom over 3 decades ago, Dr. Gene Lingerfelt and his wife Sue have both been faithful to the call of God.  As a result, both have earned a reputation for faithfully teaching God’s Word in a practical manner. Dr. Gene and Sue are both successful and well respected in the community they pastor in.  They are also the proud parents of two grown-up children, who have many children of their own. Today, Gene and Sue happily reside in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
