Bill Lockyer is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley where he earned his degree in Political Science. After college, Lockyer began his career in public service as an aide to then-Senator Alan Cranston. In 1970, he was elected to the California State Assembly and went on to serve as Majority Leader and Speaker pro Tempore. In 1982, he was elected Attorney General of California and held that post for two terms. From 1999-2007, Lockyer served as Treasurer of the State of California.
