First-generation Mexican American Dr. Carlos Chacon was born in Tuscon, Arizona. Small towns in Sonora, Mexico, were the hometowns of his immigrant parents. Dr. Carlos Chacon has resided in California for almost 20 years. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Science while he was a resident of Arizona. Three years later, he enrolled at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D.). He briefly studied neurodegenerative disorders in 2005 at Florence, Italy's Università Degli Studi di Firenze. He then advanced to the position of resident in the University of California San Francisco's Department of General Surgery in 2005. He continued to work as a resident for the University of California San Francisco after switching his focus to the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery in 2008. In 2010, he became the Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery's Chief Resident. He obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management while serving as a resident. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) offered him a 12-month Fellowship for the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California after he completed his residency. As a USC Fellow, he received advanced training in cosmetic dermatology, revision surgery, breast surgery, and aesthetic plastic surgery. During this fellowship, he also managed laser equipment and learned non-surgical techniques.
