Emergency room doctor Chris Endfinger, MD provides an inside look at the latest from his two-decade career in the medical field.

Recently once again successfully completing and receiving his medical board recertification for the fourth time, Chris Endfinger, MD, an emergency room physician from Birmingham, Alabama, has now enjoyed more than 20 years in the medical field, including a number of high-pressure years as an ER director. From working on his Spanish fluency to best serve his patients, to preparing for a return missionary trip to Honduras, the respected medical doctor shares a closer look at his life in the field.

“I recently completed my latest medical board recertification requirements,” Dr. Endfinger explains, “which marks my fourth time doing so since graduating almost 25 years ago.”

Graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 1993, Chris Endfinger, MD has acquired more than two decades of experience in medicine in the years which have followed. “This experience includes a period as an emergency room director,” he reveals, “which, while high-pressure, also proved to be an extremely rewarding time in my career.”

Following his graduation from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, where he was named the university’s intern of the year, Dr. Endfinger completed his medical residency in 1996 via the institution’s Family Medicine Residency Program. “It was here,” he reveals, looking back, “that I was named chief resident.”

In the years which have followed, family man Chris Endfinger, MD has gone on to complete two missionary trips to Honduras. “I continue to enjoy learning new emergency medical techniques and procedures from around the world,” explains the physician, “and plan to return to Honduras again soon for a third missionary trip.”

A father of two, Dr. Endfinger has been happily married for 27 years. “As a family, we’ve grown to acquire a small menagerie of pets,” he reveals, “including our two much-loved dogs, our cat, and four chickens, plus a large saltwater aquarium full of colorful tropical fish species.”

The family is also closely affiliated with their local church, CrossBridge Church of Christ, in Brook Highland, Alabama. “What CrossBridge Church offers,” says Dr. Endfinger, “is a place where individuals and families can pursue an authentic relationship with Jesus by experiencing a true sense of community with each other.”

Turning his focus back to medicine, Chris Endfinger, MD reveals how he’s currently working on his Spanish fluency. “Right now, I’m working on improving my Spanish fluency,” he explains, “in order to allow me to continue to serve my patients to the very best of my ability.”

Before completing his studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Dr. Endfinger also graduated from David Lipscomb University, a private Christian liberal arts university in Nashville, Tennessee, with a degree in biochemistry and minors in math and French.

“When not taking care of my patients or spending time with my wife, our children, and our pets,” he adds, wrapping up, “I also enjoy reading, fishing, and working out.”
