Highly successful construction firm owner Gabriel Btesh looks back on several highlights from his career and shares details of his continued drive to bolster well-being in Panama.

As construction in Panama has enjoyed a massive surge in both investment and interest in recent years, industry leaders such as Gabriel Btesh have seen first hand the benefits of this sector-wide boom. From supporting a strengthened economy to improved standards of living and bolstered feelings of wellness and well-being, Btesh shares a number of his most notable career high points.

“Since taking over the family construction firm from my father, Jack Btesh, business has been as much about building a legacy for current generations here in Panama,” Btesh explains, “as it has about money, personal pride, or even professional success.”

Beyond supporting his family, for Btesh, it’s been largely about making Panama more prosperous as a whole. By almost any measure, the second-generation construction company boss has succeeded, creating more than 10,000 jobs across the nation in the last decade alone, for example.

Btesh has also become a keen and outspoken proponent of the advances being made in the Central and South American nation toward increasing standards of living and well-being. “I’ve always yearned to do what was right,” he explains, “both for my family and for my country.”

Yet, he says, he never dared to dream that he’d enjoy the level of success which he’s now attained, nor that it would prove to be so rewarding. “Building homes for those in need, in particular, has been one of the most incredible aspects of my career to date,” reveals Btesh.

Btesh has also worked on a tremendous number of large scale commercial projects, including Mall Los Pueblos—Panama City’s most prominent and best-known mall—and at the 280-hectare, 18-hole Santa Maria Golf and Country Club on the outskirts of the city.

Deep down, however, he suggests that his primary focus has always been on the betterment of his country, strengthening the economy, and bolstering feelings of wellness and well-being among Panamanians nationwide. “Previously, the company and I were commissioned to work on a series of apartment buildings, designed to cater to local families in Panama City,” he explains.

Gabriel Btesh’s immediate focus, he goes on to reveal, was on improving the quality of life of prospective tenants. “Despite the affordable nature of the project, we sourced only modern, high-quality materials, creatively structuring luxury living spaces, but in a cost-effective manner,” the construction company boss points out.

Also included were amenities such as gyms, social areas, and creative spaces.

“My goal, in this regard,” Btesh adds, wrapping up, “was to change the lives of the families who would live there for the better, in line with my commitment to fostering new standards of wellness and well-being across the nation.”
