NAMAD member Rahim Hassanally offers a closer look at the nonprofit automobile dealer organization.A member of ethnic minority automobile dealer group NAMAD for more than a decade, Rahim Hassanally is further involved with the American International Automobile Dealers Association and is a Governor of California appointed Department of Motor Vehicles New Motor Vehicle Board member. Here, he offers a closer look into the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, more commonly known as NAMAD.
“So far, I’ve been a member of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers for more than 10 years,” reveals Hassanally, a well known and highly respected automotive industry professional, currently based between California and Texas.
Originally established in 1980 and led by individuals of African American, Latino, and Asian/Pacific Islander heritage including current president Damon Lester, NAMAD is a growing nonprofit, tax-exempt organization headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area.
Representing ethnic minority automobile dealers throughout the United States, the organization seeks to ensure the presence of a meaningful and representative number of minority entrepreneurs and employees in the automotive industry, according to Hassanally. “This applies right across the industry,” he adds, “from manufacturing to retail sales and the supplier and service sectors.”
“Headquartered in Lanham, Maryland, NAMAD has much to offer to its members,” suggests 10-year member Rahim Hassanally, “including, but not limited to, access to a nationwide network of professionals who are wholly dedicated to diversity inclusion across every aspect of the automotive industry.”
NAMAD membership is on an annual basis. Membership categories include Premier Member, Affiliate Member, Dealer Candidate, and NextGen. “NextGen membership is limited to individuals with a management position within a current NAMAD membership-holding dealer location,” explains Hassanally.
“The organization also hosts a popular, highly anticipated annual conference which NAMAD members across the board, myself included, always look forward to attending,” he adds, wrapping up.
Rahim Hassanally is a Governor of California appointed Department of Motor Vehicles New Motor Vehicle Board member, a member of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, and a board member of the American International Automobile Dealers Association. An accomplished sportsman, a keen advocate for breast cancer awareness, and a supporter of a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, charities, and other good causes, Texas-native Hassanally’s professional accolades include making the Automotive News ‘Top 40 Under 40’ list and receiving recognition as the 18th annual Urban Wheel Awards ‘Urban Dealer of the Year.’
