Businessman Rahim Hassanally expresses ongoing support for local shelters as homelessness in the United States continues to grow.

With cases of homelessness on the increase across much of the United States, automotive industry professional Rahim Hassanally reveals more about his support for local homeless shelters, including details of some of the most vital and often called upon items which can be easily and readily donated.

“With homelessness on the rise, key items called for by many local shelters include bottled water, new underwear and socks, tissues, toilet paper, and personal grooming products such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, deodorant, combs, feminine hygiene products, soap, shampoo, and baby wipes,” reveals Hassanally, a successful businessman and automotive industry professional based between California and Texas.

“Sleeping bags, new shoes, and items such as reading glasses are often much in demand, too,” he adds.

According to Hassanally, local homeless shelters are invariably grateful for any such items, as well as monetary donations, however small, plus chain store gift cards which allow staff and volunteers to purchase the items most needed at any given time.

A study by the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty estimates that between 2.3 and 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness annually. “California is among the states with the highest concentration of homeless people,” Hassanally reveals, “while across the country, around 1.5 million children are understood to be homeless, equivalent to one in every 50 youngsters.”

“Furthermore,” he continues, “veterans also represent close to 40 percent of homeless men within the United States currently.”

Well known for his philanthropic and wider charitable efforts, Rahim Hassanally has further supported those affected by last year’s devastating California wildfires. He and fellow automotive industry colleagues have also previously tirelessly rallied to support those worst affected by overseas natural and other disasters, such as Typhoon Haiyan which hit the Philippines several years ago.

“After seeing the devastation caused in the Philippines by Typhoon Haiyan, I remember thinking to myself, ‘We must take action,'” Hassanally recalls. Accordingly, he and others promptly raised more than $6,000, all of which was immediately donated to aid agencies in the region.

Moreover, Hassanally is also a keen advocate for breast cancer awareness, and has recently spoken out in support of this year’s upcoming National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held each year during October and organized by major breast cancer charities to increase awareness, and to raise funds for research into the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and cure of the disease. This year’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins on Tuesday, October 1st, 2019.

Rahim Hassanally is a Governor of California appointed Department of Motor Vehicles New Motor Vehicle Board member, a member of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, and a board member of the American International Automobile Dealers Association. An accomplished sportsman, a keen advocate for breast cancer awareness, and a supporter of a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, charities, and other good causes, Texas-native Hassanally’s professional accolades include making the Automotive News ‘Top 40 Under 40’ list and receiving recognition as the 18th annual Urban Wheel Awards ‘Urban Dealer of the Year.’
