Local entrepreneur Rob Thomson, from Jupiter, Florida, shares the joys of Jupiter’s Riverbend Park.
From picnic areas to waterways for paddle-craft, Jupiter’s huge 650-plus-acre Riverbend Park is a firm favorite with locals such as Rob Thomson and his family. A renowned businessman born and raised in Jupiter, Thomson has remained in the popular southeastern Florida coastal town ever since, and is the name behind the highly successful luxury real estate firm, Waterfront Properties, based on Parkway Street, Jupiter. Here, the entrepreneur and proud family man reveals more about his love of Riverbend Park.
“A little over 665 acres, Riverbend Park has recently undergone a number of improvements, including the addition of an observation area, a new parking lot, an outdoor picnic pavilion, numerous new kayak launching stations, and plenty more besides,” reveals Thomson. This, he says, has served to turn Riverbend into a better park than ever before.
Riverbend Park in Jupiter, Florida, is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. Located on Indiantown Road, the park has become increasingly popular with locals in recent years. “With over five miles of waterways, the park has several rivers running through it, including the Loxahatchee River,” explains Thomson, “and is home to a variety of wildlife ranging from wild turkey to deer, which my family and I all love.”
Riverbend is also home to the Loxahatchee Battlefield, Second Seminole Indian War site, and a portion of the Ocean to Lake Trail, according to Jupiter native Rob Thomson. “Furthermore, the park also connects the Northeast Everglades Natural Area, the Bluegill Trail, and the Northeast Everglades Trail system,” adds the local entrepreneur.
Riverbend Park in Jupiter recently made The Sun-Sentinel’s ‘Seven Best County Parks in South Florida’ list. Owned by Tribune Publishing, The Sun-Sentinel is the leading daily newspaper in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as well as surrounding southern Palm Beach and Broward counties.

Jupiter’s Riverbend Park boasts multi-use trails for walking, biking and horseback riding, open spaces, waterways for paddle-craft, freshwater fishing, wildlife viewing, picnic areas, living history events and programs, park naturalist-guided walks, and more.
“The park is open from sunrise to sunset every day of the year,” adds Jupiter native Rob Thomson, wrapping up, “and is located at 9060 Indiantown Road in Jupiter.”
