SAN JOSE, Calif. — Unity Care, a nonprofit agency providing housing and supportive services to transitional age foster youth, has added a new executive to its leadership team. Rusty Weekes, longtime Silicon Valley philanthropy professional and business leader, has joined the agency as development director.

Weekes brings to the role expertise in strategic business planning and stakeholder engagement derived from years of leadership in the nonprofit and public sectors. He served as executive director and top marketing executive for the Santa Clara University Bronco Bench Foundation for more than a decade. He also has directed sales and marketing for a number of high-tech companies throughout his extensive career. In addition, Weekes is a business consultant, adept at helping organizations to set and implement strategies necessary to achieve their business objectives.

“We are so glad to have Rusty on board — especially now, when our work to provide stable housing for transitional age foster youth has never been more critical,” said Unity Care Founder and CEO André Chapman. “Rusty’s expertise in resource development will help us expand our network of supporters so we increase our housing and keep more youth out of homelessness and on the path toward self-sufficiency.”

Weekes comes to Unity Care through the Encore Fellows program, which matches seasoned professionals with nonprofit organizations.
